Ok. So most may ask the question why a gospel website would spend any time covering "The King of Pop"? Well, Michael Jackson was more than just that, and his influence within the gospel music industry runs far deeper than most can imagine.
Jackson's musical accomplishments are legendary and nearly iconic. His first three albums (Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad)
sold a combined total of 150 million albums worldwide. His music video
premieres were prime time events. His concert performances were
legendary, with thousands upon thousands selling out arenas worldwide
to watch and enjoy his gift.
Jackson was the epitome of success in the music genre and became the
artist that every aspiring artist mirrored and patterned themselves
after. So what was the appeal of Jackson? For one, the icon broke
boundaries. He was the first African-American artist to be played on
MTV. His music crossed generational, ethnic, and national barriers. He
embodied the power and passion of music by pouring all of his
imagination, creativity, and gifting into his craft producing an end
result that was always timeless. Jackson showed us the true power that
the gift of music possesses. Music has always been dubbed "the
universal language" and every artist has looked for ways to be
universal in their music presentation. Jackson showed that it is
possible to work your craft and achieve unparalleled success.

As we welcome the start of the baseball season and the heart of the NBA playoffs, the concept of the instant replay becomes extremely relevant. Often times, it’s the instant replay that decides a win or loss in a game. For all of the highlights in a particular game, it’s only certain plays that get the benefit of the instant replay. Several of those plays become the highlights that make their way to all of the sports reports and ultimately define the game.
Of all of the highlights in your life, the things that don’t deserve the benefit of an instant replay are your failures. Your enemy, who is the accuser of the brothers, got his title by finding all of your failures and shortcomings and replaying them repeatedly on the flat screen of your life. Know that your failures don’t deserve that privilege. God’s forgets your sins and shortcomings, throwing them into the sea of forgetfulness. So if He doesn’t replay them, why should you? Take your failures and learn from them. Allow them to be the springboard to your next chapter. After all, if you can leave the failure long enough, you’ll find that there IS another game and another chapter in your life. In this one, you WIN!! So remind the enemy of your life that you and God are keeping score as well and on your scorecards, you ALWAYS win!! Now make THAT the instant replay of your life. |

In this season, so many are looking for answers where there seem to be none. While one would believe that the church should be immune to the issues currently plaguing society, many believers are being impacted by the issues of life. Be it a faulty economy, job insecurity, or relational issues, believers seem to be as impacted as everyone else. Some might make the argument like Job’s friends did, that life’s issues are the results of someone’s sin. I submit that your current situation may not be the result of sin as much as it is an opportunity that’s been created for you to flex your faith.

In this timeframe, so many are looking for new avenues to travel. Many are unhappy with life as they know it and desire to make a change. Yet in the desire to enact change, there is often a hindrance present that prevents change from moving from concept to reality. While many blame their job, families, or geographic location, the root of the problem is steeped in fear.
Fear of the unknown is the thing that both handicaps and cripples most from every realizing their full potential. Amazingly, this fear runs the most rampant among the children of God. One would imagine that those who call Christ Lord and are children of the most High would be the LAST ones to be filled with fear. However, most believers are riddle with fear and that fear prevents them from really moving forward in the things of God.
What is it that you’ve been wanting to do but afraid to move forward with? Please understand that the only thing preventing you from taking the next step is fear of the unknown. Take the step. You won't fail. Starve your fear and feed your faith. |

In this time where our world is focused on economic recession and extreme areas of lack, it may make many wonder about the possibilities of starting anything new or moving forward in life. Seemingly all areas of media point to the same news, making many apprehensive to make a forward move.
However, we must remember that the Word of God remains consistent and true, regardless of outside circumstances. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us ‘“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Understanding that means that there’s no need for you to cower, run, or hide at the report of the media. God’s plans for you have not changed. He knows what He has planned for you. Those plans are full of success and not failure. It only requires that you show up. Leave the place of fear and move to the place of faith. Leave the area of hiding and step out into the forefront.
In this timeframe, showing up is going to be the key. When you show up, come prepared. Don’t come empty-handed because your destiny meeting is bound to happen and showing up unprepared will cause you to miss your opportunity to be blessed. Your future is incredibly bright and requires you step out from the darkness and into the light where your gift and talent can be highlighted. Now is not the time to hide but it’s the time to show up and watch God execute His plans for you. |
