Dubbed
by one judicious journalist as ‘compelling and inspirational, truly
amazing’, Michaela : The Birth Of A Poet began writing
performance-poetry in her chicken-shed bedroom on the 22nd May 2006,
since then, the words she frequently places on common ground to fashion
the comical, cheeky, spiritual and matter-of fact poetry she recites
has rippled over the UK’s every impulse.
Never failing to hold an
audience captive, Michaela has silenced venues of thousands with the
strength of her sporadic stories. From God, to politics, from America
to her favourite pair of shoes, whatever the subject, it is impossible
to leave the same way you came in when ‘The Birth of a Poet’ hits up a
stage!
Michaela has featured in some of the UK's most premiered
venues for dance, music, and drama as well as poetry including Hackney
Empire, The Roundhouse, Carling Academy, Bloomsbury Theatre, Trafalgar
Square’s open stage to a crowd of 6,000 performing material from her
first EP release, ‘22ND MAY’ released in October 2007. Her EP continued
to gain her notoriety and took her to some of London's most famous
poetry nights including The Sunday Show, ADLIB, and Soulcial. She has
also featured on TV Stations BEN, Passion TV, LOVEWORLD TV, OHTV, OBE
and radio stations Choice FM, Colourful, Deja Vu and Premier Radio as
well as over 30 Universities all over the UK.
'Poecsising' with
the boldness of a preying lion, Michaela is also a battle-Poet and has
gained three 1st Prize Competitions at Theatre Royal Stratford East's
'Word Up Slam' all before spending a month touring across New York and
Orlando in March and April 2008. As a strong believer and studier of
Christian theology Michaela has also recited her sometimes hard-hitting
words of reality at churches such as 'Ruach Ministries', 'New Wine',
'Epainos', 'Emmanuel Christian Centre' and many more!
Michaela's highly anticipated debut album; FIXING
BARBIE, is an eclectic mix of raw live poetry, with funk, electro-pop,
comedy, soul and rock, contemplating on the album herself, Michaela
states ‘if you think it’s just gonna be a bunch of poems, your in a for
a surprise mate… it’s hilariously motivational, with every side of me
I’ve discovered so far, it’ll be sure to squeeze a tear, split a rib
and burst a brain cell’.
One of the many things that separate
this unsigned and unmanaged artist from the world’s musicians and poets
is this; she stands as an unmovable role model to women everywhere,
from the beginning of her career and to the present day, she continues
to prove that success and happiness lie not in your appearance or even
your brains… it’s in your heart… Described by one fan as ‘the realist’,
Michaela refuses to hold back; albeit an eating disorder, a disastrous
relationship or her relentless faith in God, she bares all if it’s for
the bettering of someone else.
There's so much more to say, but
nothing can truly sum up her honest ways and peculiar character, and
being part of the live experience of her recitations; the words she
giggles, sings, cries and screams are sure to have you imagining rays
of sunshine within your soul!
FIXING BARBIE was released on
August 29th with an exclusive Poetical Theatre production at the
amazing Stratford Circus to an elite audience of 300. With her electric
live band and the thespian expertise of Identity Drama School – this
night literally set the world alight! In front of a sell-out crowd and
Featuring performances by Monica Palao, Rachel Kerr and the wonderful
saxophonist YolanDa Brown, Michaela, rocked the house with performances
of exclusive tracks from this highly anticipated album. For more of Michaela check her out on MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/michaelathepoet & FACEBOOK : ‘Michaela : The Birth Of A Poet Contact Details: Afryea Ama Butterfly Management & Consultancy Tel: 07983 983 331 Email:

Who are King's Ministries?King's
Ministries are a group of young people from all walk's of life coming
from different denomination's and background's but one thing they do
have in common is a heart of worship and a desire to see soul's saved
by their ministry. The
group was formed by Courtney King, a native of Birmingham, England and
a young man with a desire to serve the Lord and be an encourager to
young people all over the world that living for Jesus is fun, exciting
and that it is possible in this day and age to have a relationship with
God and live for Him! After seeing King's Ministries minister live a few times now, we at m-brio
music believe that Courtney and his team have what it takes to take our
nation and even our world for Jesus with a special emphasis on engaging
young people not just in music but in Praise and Worship and
encouraging them to build a personal relationship with Jesus. "King's
Ministries is here to take Praise & Worship to the next level.
Praise isn't what we do, it's who we are" as said by Courtney King
himself.
Interview With Courtney King
W e
caught up with King's Ministries front man and leader Courtney King
after a mid-week service at his church. It's always great to see that
artist's are regular attendee's of their church and that they take
serving in their church seriously and are accountable to their
Leadership! How did King’s Ministries get started?
Well,
it was started from a vision God gave me to join different worship
leader’s from around the country (that i had previously worked with)
and form a group that would take praise and worship to another level.
Changing our views and perception’s of worship and inspiring people of
all cultures, ages and background’s to live a life-style of worship.
Where did the name King’s Ministries come from? I know some people may think it has something to do with your surname!
The
first 3 gig’s we did, we had no name and so we had to find a name. My
Bishop (Bishop Jonathan Jackson of “The Rock” New Testament Church Of
God, Birmingham) gave us the name because he said we were a ministry
for the Kingdom (hence King’s Ministries) and that was also the theme
for the church that year so it tied in with what God was saying for us.
What was your first ministry engagement?
Our first engagement was at a youth evening at Dudley New Testament Church Of God, i think it was May 2007.
What has been your most enjoyable ministry engagement so far?
Errm,
the most enjoyable ministry engagement we have had was at the New
Testament Church Of God (Harvest Temple) because people gave their
hearts to God and were even baptized with the Holy Spirit. I can’t just
say one though, New J Worship Live, the spirit of worship was awesome
in that place and it was great to see soul’s saved and even reconciled
to God through worship.
What has been your biggest challenge in your ministry?
My
biggest challenge was coming to grips with the fact that i had to lead
so many people that were older than me and some even more experienced
than me. The way i look at it is, David was the young shepherd boy that
was disregarded by his own family but God raised him up and used him
mightily.
How do you find being a young person in such a high position of influence with other young people affected by your ministry?
I
take it as a privilidge and an honour that young people look up to me.
I never put myself in a position where i’m un-approachable or think to
highly of myself. It’s always good to be surrounded by people that can
humble you and correct you when you are wrong purely out of love. I
make it my duty to live my life in a way that they can see that
Courtney is living right by God and let my light shine. Who has been the most influencial person in your life?
My
Grandma, without a doubt! She grew me up in church from when i was a
baby even when my parents weren’t Christian’s. She taught me how to
pray, took me to church every Sunday and really introduced me to
Jesus.. I really want to thank her! Because of her my whole family has
come to know God. My whole family has been a great strength and support
to me and what i do as well and i could never thank them enough.
If you could work with any artist in the world who would it be and why?
That’s
a real hard one! Israel Houghton and New Breed, i would never usually
say that but recently i have been watching what he’s doing and the way
he and his team flow in worship. They’re an example for any worship
leader and their worship is pure and honest and that comes across in
their music. If you were on a desert island, which CD would you take with you?
That
is REALLY HARD man!!! Hmm...(Courtney thinks long and hard eventually
coming with an answer)..Marvin Sapp “Thirsty”. The song’s are simple
and powerful, songs like “Praise Him In Advance”, Worshipper In Me” and
of course the hit song and song that seal’s the deal for me is “Never
Would Have Made It”.
What’s your favourite song of all time?
“Chasing After You” by Tye Tribett & GA
What do you hope to see within the Gospel music industry here in the UK over the next 10 years?
I
hope to see the Gospel music industry in the UK raise its game. We need
to raise the standard of our music and our worship. All things are
possible and i believe that the UK has something to offer the world.
What are your plans moving forward and where do you see King’s Ministries in the next 5 years?
I
want King’s Ministries to have recorded our first album. I really want
to be ministering out-side of the church. A lot of the time i see that
we minister to a lot of people who are already saved but i really want
us to minister to those who don’t already know Jesus! If i was going to
say anything, i would quote the song by Bishop Paul Morton “Lord
Whatever You’re Doing In The Season, Don’t Do It Without Me” we want to
be in the centre of God’s will for this ministry!
What advice could you give any artist’s wishing to follow in your footsteps?
Seek,
ye first the kingdom of God, really! Seek God’s face, all thing’s will
be added after you seek Him. Once your relationship is where it needs
to be with God, ministry will come and door’s will be opened for you.
It’s not always about singing as well, you have to have direction. You
must have goals and more importantly, an education.
Any final words for your fans?
Thanks
to everyone for the support you’ve given King’s Ministries over the
years. The best thing you can do for us is to pray for us! Look forward
to the album that’s going to be coming out titled “In Your Presence”We
really want to see everyone at Main Room (held at Birmingham Christian
Centre) at 6:00pm. It’s a free event so come out and support us! Also
we’ll be ministering at “The Midnight Oil Summit “Launch Out into
Deeper Water’s”from the 7th-8th August 2009-06-24, see website for more

life of praise and worship fills our deepest needs, and amazingly, it
also brings great joy to God. It is a condition of your heart; a
willingness to exalt God and yield to his will, for He alone is worthy
of our devotion, praise and worship. In Matthew 4:10, Jesus says,
"Worship the Lord your God and serve him only." Therefore, worship is
not merely a natural instinct, it is a command from God. Kings
Ministries are a praise and worship team whose sole purpose is to
praise and worship God as an expression of their love and awe to Him.
The team was formed by Courtney King in May 2007 and consists of a
range of anointed vocalists and musicians, not to mention their dynamic
praise dancers.
After
seeing King's Ministries minister live a few times now, we at m-brio

nation and even our world for Jesus

endeavor to be people of excellence! Our aim is to raise the standard
of praise and worship not only in our local churches, but to have an
impact in other places where we minister", says Courtney King
(Founder). Whether you express your worship by singing, playing music,
dancing or in some other way, remember that you are called to worship
God with your every action, every day of your life. God is holy,
loving, and worthy of all our worship and devotion! Buckle your seat
belts because praise and worship will never be the same again!!! God
bless you!
