Jimmy BlackwoodDaywind Records is pleased to announce the signing of the legendary Blackwood Brothers Quartet. The Blackwood Brothers and Daywind entered an exclusive agreement that will include a recording celebrating their 75 Years in Gospel music.

Norman Holland, Vice President and Director of A &R for Daywind Records shared his excitement over partnering with the group; “What an honor to be a part of history. Blackwood Brothers’ music and songs are what established what we n

ow know as Southern Gospel music. We are honored to pay tribute to this remarkable group and its heritage and on their 75th anniversary.” The Blackwood Brothers Quartet was formed in 1934 with brothers Roy, Doyle, James and Roy's son, R.W. James was the enduring nucleus of this group that would go on to become the best-known quartets in the history of Gospel music. In 2002, James Blackwood moved on to his eternal reward, but his son, Jimmy (James Jr.) continues the 75-year tradition. The group today consists of Wayne Little and Randy Byrd, acclaimed as one of the best tenor/bass combinations in Gospel music, and Brad White, baritone and pianist.
“Daywind has offered us a wonderful opportunity to continue the 75-year Gospel music tradition of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet,” states Jimmy Blackwood. “My dad, James Blackwood and his brothers, Roy, Doyle and nephew R.W., started this wonderful heritage and we are so grateful to Mr. Ed Leonard and Mr. Norman Holland for keeping this great legacy alive. We are gathering material for our first recording on the Daywind label and we are honored to be joining their roster of today’s top Gospel singers and to be associated with their outstanding team of writers and musicians. I pray that our efforts will be pleasing to the Lord, a blessing to all who listen, and that we would make my daddy proud.”

The CD, which will feature Blackwood Brothers’ classics along with several brand new songs, will be released to retail this fall.
