Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, has landed their second #1 hit on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart.
The group’s current single, “He Bore a Cross,” reached #1 on this
week’s issue of the popular fan-based chart. The group previously had
a #1 on the chart with their hit song “Naaman” – which spent three
consecutive weeks in the top spot.
“We are continually in awe at the response that this song has
received,” mentioned Deon Unthank of Sunday Edition. “This song has
been really special – creating many career milestones for our group –
and this is just another added blessing for us!”
The GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart is the only chart in the
Southern Gospel community that is determined solely by votes from fans
of the genre. In addition to “He Bore a Cross,” the group’s previous
single “Absolutely Free” is also charting on the Top 40 at #15 this
week. That song peaked at #3 on the chart earlier this year.
In addition to the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart – “He Bore a
Cross” has seen a resounding impact on almost every chart in Southern
Gospel music. The song is currently #44 on the October 2009 issue of
the Singing News
Top 80 Chart. The song also broke into the SoGospelNews.com Top 40
Weekly Chart – this week charting at #18. “He Bore a Cross” is also
charting on the Top 100 charts for Christian Voice Magazine and PowerSource Magazine.
Sunday Edition released this special edition single in conjunction with
BSA World Records. “He Bore a Cross” was produced by Glen Bates and
written by Bates and Glen Ashworth specifically for the up-and-coming
trio. The group will be recording a follow-up single with BSA World
Records later this month for a late December/early January release to
radio. The new song will see production work from Bates as well.
“He Bore a Cross” is being promoted to radio by Phillip Emery (DJ Man
Promotions), Theresa Dillard (TS Promotions), and Tony & Kim
Hudgins (Spin-N-Motion Promotions).
Sunday Edition has been recording vocals for a brand new album. Tracks for the new album, tentatively titled Sunday Worship,
were recorded by Bobby McAllister for Salem Sound in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. Sunday Worship is being produced and arranged by group
members Chris Unthank and Deon Unthank with additional production by
Steve Allen (Vestal Goodman, Gaither Vocal Band, Gold City). Vocals
for the new recording are being recorded at Square One Studio in
Franklin, Tennessee this month. Sunday Worship has a tentative release date of late Fall.
